This would be funny if it weren't so true.
Caffeine induced ramblings of a guy who only wears grey T-shirts.

Ok, so I was perusing Yahoo news today and ran across the article: "Gum Chewing Helps Bowels After Surgery."
The article follows with a discussion on why this is and important details such as:
"Seventeen of 34 patients who chewed gum beginning a few hours after surgery passed gas several hours sooner than the half who did not chew."
What?!? My IQ just dropped a few points after I read that.
Now I guess this could be important information to someone but, come on, there are so many other articles that should be written and should be in the news that arenĂ¢€™t. Our world is filled with wars, culture clashes, sickness and painĂ¢€”why don't we hear about these kinds of things in the news? It just goes to show really how comfortable our lives, as Americans are.
I wonder how much more good we could do, as the richest country in the world, and how much better we could understand people and world issues (thus avoiding conflicts) if our news sources would inform us of real needs instead of wasting good time, paper or bandwidth on stupid crap (hee hee) like this.
I shouldn't be too hard on Yahoo. At least, if you dig a few links in you can actually find some world news. Less dynamic news sources (like TV) just leave all that stuff out because of time.
As for me, I am going to find a better news source, right after I run to the store to get some gum.
